Senior Slump? Snap Out of It! We realize you’ve got worked very hard over the last years that are few each of those challenging courses, getting associated with numerous extracurriculars, accepting leadership positions, etc. And, you are truly working very difficult now on your college applications. You may feel very tempted to put down your college work in support of other, more exciting possibilities (senior ditch time, anyone?) But trust us, now’s maybe not the time to slack off. You have come this far, and you want to ensure that you complete strong. And not for your own personel peace of mind, you have your own internal motivations though we do hope. Realistically, though, what will probably motivate you most to keep those year that is senior up is just a little something called the Mid-Year Report. The Mid-Year Report is a very Common Application form that must be submitted by your therapist after very first semester year that is senior become available. Our office takes these grades into consideration, and expects that the trend in your grades will carry on. That means that when you were earning high grades before, there isn’t any reason those As shouldn’t be reflected on your Mid-Year Report. And while we’re on the topic, senioritis just isn’t an excuse to allow your second-semester year that is senior slip, either. We shall be delivered a transcript that is final your high college, and can ensure that those grades are intact, too. As always, we reserve the straight to rescind any admission decisions. So, moral of the story is: continue working hard, up until ab muscles day that is last of year. And, prepare to operate even harder (but have lots of fun too) in college! The Art of the Supplement Our first deadline is around the corner. Are you able to believe it?! December 1st is less than a month away. Students applying for talent-based majors must submit a bit more information, therefore we’ve clarified a few reasons for having the procedure. In addition to doing the App that is common and Writing Supplement, pupils deciding on the Iovine and Young Academy, Roski class of Fine Arts, class of Architecture, School of Cinematic Arts, School of Dramatic Arts, while the Thornton School of Music must finish the Arts Supplement. To do that, students need to respond ‘yes’ to the question, ‘Do you intend to submit an art supplement so that your special talent in one or higher of the arts will likely be thought to be section of the admission process to University of Southern California?’ on the Writing Supplement. This allows the hyper link to Slideroom to appear into the left column of Common App. Auditions: Thornton: pupils must be prescreened before being invited for an audition. To do this, students must upload tracks to the ‘Fall DecisionDesk portal’ by the 1st deadline december. They must also complete the Art Supplement in Slideroom. Thornton will send students an audition confirmation in late December. Please only submit a Slideroom supplement for a major to which you are applying. Dramatic Arts: To schedule an audition for the BFA, students must indicate their top three audition date preferences on Slideroom. If students are not able to attend an audition that is live they must select ‘Recorded Audition’ on Audition Date Preference #1 and upload a recording on the ‘Media’ tab in Slideroom. Interviews: Dramatic Arts: All applicants applying to the BA in Dramatic Arts system are expected to schedule an interview with an admission therapist either in person or on the telephone. Students can sign up for this interview on the Dramatic Arts web site. Portfolio distribution: Fine Arts: In addition to questions that are answering the student’s innovative experience, pupils must submit 10-15 images on the Media tab on Slideroom. They are added one at time and can’t be added in PDF format. Iovine and Young Academy: Applicants are needed to submit an original video of no more than 1 minute that illustrates an original idea for an innovative product, service or system that solves a challenge, addresses a need, or provides the opportunity. In addition to this video, pupils may submit as much as 5 media files including visual images, motion graphics, original music recordings, poems, and essays. Every one of these components should be uploaded to the Media tab within Slideroom. Architecture: pupils can upload drawing, sketching, painting, graphic design, photography, video, web-design, sculpture, ceramics and furniture design project examples to the Media tab on Slideroom. The admission committee would like to see proof creativity. Up to 25 examples may be submitted. Cinematic Arts: Depending on the program to that your student applies, pupils must submit a statement that is personal composing sample, creative profile list, reactions to brief solution questions, and URLs in Slideroom. The Media tab is where students should upload sample that is visual video, and photos.
